Shirley Virginia Jefferson Obituary (1934 - 2016)

Shirley Virginia Jefferson, 81, of Frederick, MD, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Frederick Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 10, 1934, in Frederick, MD, to the late Bernard and Letha Mae Ambush, and was the wife of James A. Jefferson, Jr. for 54 years. Shirley was a life time homemaker and seamstress. In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Carleen Bowie and Tanya Lyles, both of Frederick, MD; two sons, Larry Jackson, Annapolis, MD, and Ronald Jackson, Frederick, MD; sister, Barbara A. Groomes (Charles), Frederick, MD; 11 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, James Jefferson, III; and brother, Bernard Ambush. Services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016, at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD, with a public viewing at 9 a.m., family hour at 10 a.m., and the funeral at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
