Lawrence W. Gray Obituary (1953 - 2016)

Lawrence Walter Gray, Jr., 62, of Brunswick, MD, died on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. He was born October 5, 1953, in Frederick, MD, to the late Walter and Ruth Gray, and was the husband of Cheryl Y. Gray for 17 years. Lawrence was an avid fisherman since the young age of 13. He loved music and played several instruments. Lawrence was also a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was employed by Frederick County Public Schools as a custodian at Brunswick High School. To many of the students, Lawrence was a friend and mentor. He was always lending a listening ear and giving helpful advice. Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters, Lannette Myers, Gaithersburg, MD, Chelaya Campbell, Brunswick, MD, Shyra Gray, Atlanta, GA, Chasity Gray, Hagerstown, MD, and Karisha Gray, Frederick, MD; two sisters, Voretta Gray-Dotson (Larry) and Sunday Fossett; brother, Kenneth Gray; seven grandchildren, Audreana, Chanelle, Gabriel, Amiya, Josiah, Jonathan, and Jada; uncle, Daniel Fisher (Linda); three aunts, Blanche Green, Bernice Williams, and Iantha Gray; in-laws, James and Cynthia Smothers; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bruce and David Gray. Services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016, at Jackson Chapel UMC, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD, with a family hour at 10 a.m. and the funeral at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be shared at www.garylrollinsfuneral home.com.
