Erma Dyson Obituary (1951 - 2014)

Pastor Erma (Idie) Arlene Ambush Dyson, age 63, of New Market, MD, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 24, 2014. She was born Oct. 22, 1951, to the late Julia Virginia and George Thomas Ambush. She graduated from Frederick High, attended Frederick Community College and completed courses at Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, DC. Pastor Erma served the Buckeystown Parish #80 from 2000 to 2007. She pastored at Hopehill United Methodist Church from 2007 until her retirement in early 2014. She served on the Buildings, Locations Committee, Commission on Religion, Local Pastors Fellowship, Frederick District Lay Speakers Committee, and Kairos Prison Ministry. She was previously employed at National Geographic, ASHP, and Krop-Vario and Associates. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Rev. Richard C. Dyson, Sr.; son, Bobby Jermaine Ambush and wife Keli Rousseau Ambush; 2 step-sons, Timothy Dyson (Pat) and Richard Dyson, Jr.; and foster daughter Danielle Lincoln. Erma is survived by 6 sisters, Martha Jane Harris (Paul), Pearl Borum (Robert), Berniece Brown, and Janet Stubblefield, all of Frederick, MD, Carolyn Davis (Lawrence), Newport News, VA, and Julia Lee, Madison, AL; 5 grandchildren, Madison, Kennedi, Jackson, Ryand, and Micah; 2 step-grandchildren, Nicole Johnston (Michael) and Brittney Dyson; and 4 godchildren, Nicole Bontrager, Ebony Blanton, John Thomas, III, and Stephen King. Public viewing will be Wed., Dec. 31, 2014, at 9 a.m. at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. and the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the ALS Association.
