Cedric James Richardson Obituary (1959 - 2018)

Cedric James Richardson was born on March 15, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY and was the beloved son of the late Florence Elizabeth Richardson. He departed this life peacefully after a lengthy illness on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Cedric, affectionately known as "Red," graduated from Holy Cross Catholic School in Brooklyn. He then enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland. It was during this time that Cedric made Frederick his home. In the close-knit community was where he found lifelong friendships. It was here that he met and married his wife and life partner, Renee Ambush and the two were married on December 1st, 1979. Cedric worked for Sears and Roebuck for over 35 years. He retired in 2017 to take care of his grandson, Keanan. Cedric was devoted to his family. They meant everything to him and he made sure they knew how much he loved them. He was always there when they needed him. He greatly enjoyed having family gatherings where he would play music, dance and serve good food. He was the life of the party and he could really dance, a trait that Keanan inherited from his Pop-Pop. Cedric leaves to mourn his life and legacy: his dearly loved wife, Renee Ambush Richardson; his grandchildren, Kwandell, Mekhai and Kaylah; mother-in-law, Thelma Ambush; sisters/brothers-in law, Linda Helms (Richard), Marquice Franklin (Harold), Gregory Ambush (Linda), Vickie Gilliam, Darren Ambush (Roberta) and Leslie Ambush; a nephew-like-son, Forrest Offord; godchildren, Chelsea Martinez, Allen Waters and Daeante Sewell; his oldest cousin, Doris C. Lockhart, special cousins Joanne Gross, Freda Paige, Daryl Rucker, Douglas Rucker, Stephanie Atkins, Denise Rucker and Tamyka Waters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, military buddies and lifelong friends. In addition to his mother, Cedric is preceded in death by: his daughter, Tranice Richardson; and grandson, Keanan Richardson. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church, 5609 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, MD 21703 at 11:00 AM, with a public wake at 9:30 AM. The family will received friends at 10:00. Interment will immediately follow services at Fairview Cemetery in Frederick, MD. The Rev. Stephanie M. Atkins, Senior Pastor will officiate.
